Two Thousand Years Later

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” John 11:23-27 (NKJV) Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’” John 20:17 (NKJV) The New Testament offers a number of false sentiments of who Jesus was, mostly coming from the religious leaders of that time, leading up to and including Jesus’ death burial and resurrection. Jesus was steadfast however, throughout, speaking the truth about Himself, His God and Father (John 20:17), and instructing others to beware of false doctrines. Here we are coming upon two thousand years later, and I, like “Martha” back then (John 11:23-27), believe Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of God.” Knowing the word of God endures forever, concerning one’s salvation, believing Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of God,” is sufficient. “Do you believe” Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of God?” I pray God that you do or that you will.
