The John 20:17 Question

Many months ago I sent someone this question: Would you say the person confessing Jesus is the Son of God, the Lord and the Savior of their life, saved according to the Scriptures, and rejects the Anthanasian Creed altogether, is saved? They did respond, but without answering my question. Recently, I sent this same person the John 20:17 question. They responded and what you’re about to read is my subsequent response. Hi ___________, Thanks for the rapid response. I really do appreciate it. The question I presented had nothing to do with creeds. It had everything to do with something Jesus actually said in John 20:17. Near the end of the first century, John the Apostle, being led by the Holy Spirit wrote: Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’” John 20:17 (NKJV) Here’s my question. After reading John 20:17, would you say Jesus’s God and Father and your God and Father are one and the same? I sent the question because yesterday's radio program offered the evidence of certain "religions" offering a distorted version of who Jesus is. How one answers the John 20:17 question, however, reveals where they stand with the Bible. Is it trustworthy as is, or anything else but? I would say "yes" Jesus's God and Father and my God and Father are one and the same because I know Jesus wasn't lying when He said, speaking of Himself, "I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God." John 20:17. God bless. Jim End of my response. Followers of Jesus, they must recognize Jesus is trustworthy. God bless. In His Care… Jim
