Key Truths

I heard that creeds are useful for condensing key truths or doctrines about the Christian faith based on God’s word. I would say first and foremost, any statement of faith that is actually “based on God’s word,” will be useful. Second, and something we all should be aware of these days, not all creeds are “based on God’s word.” The last sentence of the Anthanasian Creed clearly establishes that unless a person “faithfully” believes everything inscribed in the Anthanasian Creed, which certainly includes “the Son is God,” they “cannot be saved.” If that doesn’t cause you to stay clear of the Anthanasian Creed today, the question then becomes, what are you doing with the word of God?
