Believe That Jesus Is The Son Of God
I was told “to deny Jesus is God brings eternal damnation.” Let me ask you, is not something wrong with that? Of course there is. It’s not in the Bible. In John 20:17 (NKJV) Jesus said, “I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.” Here’s something else I was told, concerning John 20:17, “that verse cannot be used to deny that Jesus is God, especially since it is in the Gospel of John were John repeatedly said that Jesus is God.” Why anyone would even think or say such a thing, is mindboggling. You can take Jesus at His word here (John 20:17), He ascended to His God and Father. It is false to believe “to deny Jesus is God brings eternal damnation.”
Here’s the problem with saying false things about Jesus. In this case “to deny Jesus is God brings eternal damnation.” In order to teach any falsehood as true, one must first believe that the falsehood is true. How then does one get to that point? It’s simple, they just don’t know the whole truth concerning the matter.
When it comes to what one must believe in order to be saved according to the Scriptures, there’s no room for error. It’s not complicated. Just as Jesus is the centerpiece of God’s plan of salvation, He must be the centerpiece of our daily lives as well. Call on Jesus’s name. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (NKJV) Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:5 (NKJV)
Having access to a lot of feedback from my John 20:17 question, and with my latest book Jesus’s God And Father: One God And Father Of All, and God as a witness, I can safely say it is a serious problem for those believing “the Son is God,” that Jesus ascended to His God and Father.
I’m hopeful that followers of the Anthanasian Creed believe Jesus is the Son of God. My prayer is that they come to know that believing Jesus is the Son of God alone secures their salvation.
God bless.
In His Care… Jim
