Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that
Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:5
(NKJV)
In
the only name given among men by which we must be saved, Messiah Yeshua “Jesus,”
greetings.
It’s that time of year once again, when the significance of
Jesus’ birth, in the little town of Bethlehem, is heard throughout the
world. I don’t take this time of year
lightly, whenever/wherever verses of [Scripture] are read I will rejoice.
For unto us a Child is born, unto
us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful,
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
(NKJV)
“But
you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
yet out of you shall come forth to Me the
One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from old, from
everlasting.” Micah 5:2 (NKJV)
Just a few days ago, while listening to the local “Christian”
radio station, I was taken on a journey through Isaiah 9:6, Micah 5:2, and
beyond. The speaker on the radio gave
his version of the “Christmas” story. I
say the speaker’s version because followers of the Anthanasian Creed believe
Isaiah 9:6 is evidence of Jesus being “God,” and the speaker is a follower of
that creed. Isaiah 9:6 doesn’t define
who Jesus is. There’s a significant
difference between “And His name will be called” and, He is.
And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the
majesty of the name of the Lord His God; and they shall abide, for now
He shall be great to the ends of the earth.
Micah 5:4 (NKJV)
When you read Micah 5:2-4 together you see “the
One to be Ruler in Israel” in Micah 5:2, Jesus, “shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty
of the name of the Lord His God.” Micah 5:4 the key words are, “the Lord His
God.”
Just as Micah 5:2-4 is a prophecy, concerning
“the One to be Ruler in Israel,” Isaiah 9:6 is as well.
When one calls Jesus
“Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,”
they’re actually fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy.
What the follower of Anthanasian Creed fails to see is “the One to be
Ruler in Israel” and the Anthanasian Creeds “the Son is God,” aren’t one and the same.
“The Lord His
God” is referring to Jesus’ God, the all-knowing God of the [Bible].
Don’t make the mistake of treating Micah
5:4 as if it doesn’t exist. Unlike the
Anthanasian Creed, the inspired word of God endures forever. It is safe to say that the origin of Isaiah
and Micah’s prophecy’s, is the all-knowing God of the [Bible] who cannot lie.
Then he said to Jesus, “Lord,
remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you shall be with Me
in Paradise.” Luke 23:42-43 (NKJV)
I’d say more time should be given to the simplicity of God’s
plan of salvation, which has been clearly laid out for us in Luke 23:42-43,
than clinging to the teachings/traditions of those making false claims. For even they know they aren’t supported by
the [Bible]. Not stopping there they
cross the line, saying, unless one believes their understanding of the
[Scriptures] one cannot be saved.
I look to the cross and not the Anthanasian Creed, for the
creed has nothing to do with “the One to be Ruler in Israel,” let alone
my becoming a follower of “the One to be Ruler in Israel,” Jesus. Trust that the [Bible] is more than
sufficient enough as it is. This is
the safest thing one could do each and every, day of the year.
God bless.
In His Care… Jim
