“We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.” Colossians 1:3 (NKJV)
In
the name of He who when being asked “Are You then the Son of God” answered “You
rightly say that I am,” Messiah Yeshua “Jesus,” greetings. See Luke
22:70 (NKJV)
I sent the following note to someone I heard on the local
“Christian” radio station.
I’ve sent this question to
many. If I gave you the names of those
that I have sent it to over a period of three years, you’d recognize the
majority of them. To date I’ve only
received one [direct] answer to it “Yes, and no,” which really isn’t an answer
at all.
Here’s my question:
Would you say the person confessing
Jesus is the Son of God, the Lord and the Savior of their life, saved according
to the [Scriptures], and rejects the Anthanasian Creed altogether, is saved?
When I say “rejects the Anthanasian
Creed altogether” I mean, treat the Anthanasian Creed as if it never existed at
all. As one who loves Jesus, and who’s
not ashamed to tell others about Him, I would say the person is saved.
Their reply (along with a substantial amount of suggested
reading material):
You asked, “Would you say the person
confessing Jesus is the Son of God, the Lord and the Savior of their life,
saved according to the [Scriptures], and rejects the Anthanasian Creed
altogether, is saved? When I say “rejects the Anthanasian Creed altogether” I
mean, treat the Anthanasian Creed as if it never existed at all.”
The reason the answer is divided is the
Athanasian Creed touches on more than one subject. It’s primarily an assertion
of the nature of the Trinity, but it also includes Christ’s descent into hell
and the interpretation of 1 Peter 3:19, and the meaning of clinging to “the
catholic faith.” Logically, if one does not subscribe to all these as written,
one cannot accept the creed as a whole, which may explain the “yes and no”
answer.
We would answer that no creed must
literally be accepted to be saved. However, belief in the divinity of Christ,
and, therefore, the triune nature of God, is essential to salvation. That
doesn’t mean one comprehends the propositions of theology proper (the nature of
God); rather, salvation itself involves an awakening to one’s relationship with
God as revealed in the Bible, which includes this truth. If one learns of the
Godhead as Father, Son, and Spirit and rejects what the Scriptures reveal, one
cannot attest to salvation in Christ.
That answer is not dependent at all on
the written creed written by Athanasius in the fourth century. To believe salvation
is dependent on a creed that did not exist before the fourth century would be
absurd.
To which I replied:
Thanks for the rapid response. I really do appreciate it.
After thinking about how I would reply to [all] the material
that you sent my way, I settled on sharing a recent blog post with you.
One Thing Is Needed
In the name of Him who was given
all authority in heaven and on earth, Messiah Yeshua “Jesus,” greetings. See Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village;
and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a
sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha
was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do
You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to
help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried
and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and
Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-42 (NKJV)
There are those who love the Anthanasian Creeds add-ons to God’s
plan of salvation so much, they treat those who don’t as nonbelievers in Jesus
Christ. They won’t see that in God’s plan of salvation only “one
thing is needed,” for one to be saved according to the [Scriptures].
Those [believing in] confessing Jesus is the Son of God have “chosen
that good part, which will not be taken away from” them.
The Anthanasian Creeds false method of salvation is upheld by
those not cited in the [Bible], and staying clear of it is the safest thing one
could do.
God bless.

Now I return you to today’s post.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God
abides in him, and he in God. 1 John
4:15 (NKJV)
If you say [believing in] confessing “Jesus is the Son of
God” isn’t enough to take one into the kingdom of God, you’re saying what
Jesus accomplished in the first century is absurd.
You must know the [Bible] is trustworthy as is, before you
can see the Anthanasian Creed never should have made its way into the twenty
first century. The Anthanasian Creed
says unless one believes every [single] word documented within
the Anthanasian Creed, one cannot be saved.
When you treat the Anthanasian Creed as if it never existed
at all, God’s plan of salvation won’t suffer for it.
God bless.
In His Care… Jim
