“Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3 (NKJV)
In
the precious and beautiful name of Messiah Yeshua “Jesus,” greetings.
Now it came to pass, when Jesus
finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach
and to preach in their cities. And when John had heard in prison about the
works of Christ, he sent two of his
disciples and said to Him, “Are
You the coming One, or do we look for another?” Matthew 11:1-3 (NKJV)
While listening to the local “Christian” radio station I
heard, speaking of John the Baptist, “John was confused.” The speaker on the radio believes John had
doubts about Jesus being the Messiah, “Are You the coming One, or do we look
for another.”
Actually there’s a pattern here, the speaker on the radio is a
follower of the Anthanasian Creed.
Followers of that creed say things are in the [Bible], when man’s
understanding/interpretation of [Scripture] is all they have to offer in its
defense. The words “the Son is God” is number one on the
list of things they know aren’t in the [Bible], as they try to convince
you the evidence of it being so is.
I totally disagree with the speaker on the radio. There is every reason to believe the speaker
on the radio is either leaning on someone else’s understanding of [Scripture],
or his own. John fulfilled what he was
called to do and, there’s no [Biblical] evidence of him being “confused” at any
time. In fact, below we see how clear
John can be.
“He must increase, but I must
decrease.” John 3:30 (NKJV)
In what’s known to us today as John 3:30 we can see, John knew
“He,” Jesus, “must increase” and John himself “must decrease.”
But when he saw many of the
Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood
of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” Matthew 3:7 (NKJV)
“But when” John saw “the Pharisees and Sadducees”
religious leaders (Matthew 3:7), he knew exactly what they needed to
hear.
Because John had said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you
to have your brother’s wife.” Mark 6:18 (NKJV)
John knew “Herod” was up to no good and,
didn’t hesitate to let him know that he knew. (Mark 6:18). There’s so much more written about John in the
[Bible], none of which gives reason to believe “John was confused.”
Maybe the answer to “Are You the coming One, or do we
look for another (Matthew 11:3)” was meant for “he sent two of his
disciples,” John’s disciples.
It is my obligation to tell you that when there’s no
[Biblical] evidence of it being so to begin with, in this case the speaker on
the radios “John was confused,” don’t teach it as a [Biblical] truth.
Don’t assume everyone knows the difference between a [Biblical]
truth and an assumption on your part.
You just might have to reveal the [source] of your information and if
it’s not the inspired word of God, hearsay at best will be its claim to
fame.
Lead people straight to Messiah Yeshua “Jesus” and, don’t
lean on your own understanding of the events leading up to the events
themselves, Yeshua’s birth, death, burial and resurrection, as you go. The inspired word of God, the [Bible], as is,
is sufficient.
God bless.
In His Care… Jim
